Gambling Prevention

Gambling Prevention provides Wallowa County with awareness, education, and prevention strategies to prevent disordered gambling. Disordered gambling (previously called “problem gambling”) occurs in our community. Wallowa County prevention seeks to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors attributed to disordered gambling.

Drug and Alcohol Prevention

Building Healthy Families and Wallowa County Prevention is dedicated to creating a safer community for all. The substance prevention team imparts individual knowledge and community education about alcohol and other substances. Wallowa County Prevention recognizes the impact that substance disorders and misuse have on individuals, relationships, and communities. We work diligently to provide prevention strategies that are centered in evidence-based harm reduction. We are committed to providing intersectional services that challenge stigma and cultivate community connections.

Protect Our Children

Established in 2015, Protect Our Children was born from The Ford Family Foundation's unwavering commitment to end child sexual abuse. As a community-based training program, we strive to raise awareness and foster a proactive approach to prevention through education. With a driven statewide coordinator at the helm and 17 committed partner organizations, (including Building Healthy Families), on the ground, we have made substantial progress in rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. By uniting a powerful network of individuals and organizations, we are working towards a future filled with brighter prospects for our children. A Pump Track is Coming to Enterprise City Park!

What is a pump track?

A pump track is a specially designed track made up of rollers, berms, and turns that riders navigate by using their body movements rather than pedaling. It provides a fun, active space where people of different ages and skill levels can ride bikes, scooters, skateboards, and other wheeled devices while building balance, confidence, and riding skills.

Why do we need a pump track?

A pump track would provide a safe, accessible place for youth and families to be active, build biking skills, and spend time together in our community. It would also give local youth a positive place to gather, reducing the need to ride in streets and creating opportunities for healthy recreation and connection.

Where will the pump track be built?

The asphalt pump track will be built at the Enterprise City Park in the green space on the corner of 2nd St. and Greenwood St.

When will this be built?

Building Healthy Families staff are actively writing and submitting grant applications with the goal of beginning construction in summer 2027. While grants will help cover a portion of the project costs, they will not fund the entire project, so staff and a group of local teens will begin community fundraising efforts in fall and winter 2026 to help close the funding gap.
