The Exploration K-4th Program is housed at the Wallowa, Enterprise and Joseph School Districts. Curriculum is provided by the Wallowa County Library, Building Healthy Families, Wallowa County Prevention Collaborative and Safe Harbors. Building Healthy Families coordinates the program and views out-of-school-time programming as an important and growing piece of the value they can offer to children of all backgrounds in Wallowa County.  Exploration is assessed as a high priority to continue and expand in part because of the collaboration it encourages and also it’s potential for universal use and acceptance.

The Exploration Tutoring and Mentoring Program works to identify and pair student’s grades 5-12, in need of academic support and/or positive adult relationships, with volunteer mentors in Wallowa County.  This school-based program provides weekly, individualized tutoring sessions as well as quarterly enrichment opportunities.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Project targets the individual skills and interests of Wallowa County Juniors and Seniors, while engaging them in a leadership and entrepreneurship curriculum.   The project strives to introduce students to the idea of creating a business model based on passions and individual skill sets, which not only benefits youth, but promotes community and economic development in Wallowa County.

The Books Bridging Generations pairs students grades K-3 in all three Wallowa County school districts with community volunteers for weekly reading sessions.  With the goals of building positive adult/child relationships while simultaneously developing reading skills and initiating a life-long love for reading, the program is loosely modeled on a number of evidence-based reading models.
